Don't Start With Me (Uhura)
I know this will be like, my third or fourth post on Star Trek in the past few weeks, but I have more coherent thoughts now. Included in this post, n ot in any particular order...

  • Ramblings on both the new movie and The Original Series
  • Reasons why Star Trek > The Dark Knight
  • The possibility of a certain love triangle that I do not want
  • Thoughts on Yeoman Janice Rand in TOS and hopes for the character's future in the franchise
  • Grace Lee Whitney (Janice Rand) and autobiography, The Longest Trek: My Tour of the Galaxy
  • More... (maybe)

To end on a lighter note, thanks to TV Tropes I am now 100% in love with the idea of a McCoy/Katara team up.

(Some of these tags might be unnecessary.)

And here we... go.

Jokerzula, Makes You Stranger (The Joker)
I saw The Dark Knight a few hours ago. Holy. Frakking. Monkey. Feathers. SO AWESOME!!! I went with my little sister and my cousin from Missouri. She's a year older than me and we're really close.

Yesterday I posted my thoughts on The Killing Joke by Alan Moore. My very disappointed thoughts. I really didn't like that Joker. And I'd read that TKJ was a major influence on TDK, so I was starting to worry if I would like TDK. Thankfully, the only similarities it had were the aspects I LIKED about TKJ, which are rather common Joker themes. I read an interview with Heath Ledger today that was from November, and the interviewer asked if there were any comics that Ledger used to help him with his Joker, and he replied "Well, The Killing Joke is the one that's being passed around and Arkham Asylum kind of. But I really tried to read the comics and put it down." I liked Arkham Asylum, but I'm glad Ledger didn't use it. And I'm REALLY glad he didn't use TKJ. I seriously don't get why everyone cites it as the ultimate Joker reference.

Speaking of Heath Ledger, he was truly amazing. Now I can't imagine anyone else for the role. (Except, of course, Mark Hamill when it comes to voices.) His laugh was awesome. Like a series of insane giggles. This was really the first movie I've seen with him where I truly noticed his performance. And the first one I've seen all the way through. So it wasn't until today that I got a real taste of his talent. Now I'm even more sad that he passed. I get what everyone was talking about in January.

I think I may have gone to the ONLY showing where the audience didn't clap during the movie. When my brother saw it, he said the whole audience clapped for Gordon in one scene. I was ready to start clapping at a few parts, but no one clapped. Not until the credits started when about 1/3 of the audience clapped. D:

I also saw the trailer for "The Spirit", and I really was on the verge on tears. It was SO painful. Why does Frank Miller get work? I guess there is no God...

I might add more later, but let's face it, I never do. If you haven't seen The Dark Knight yet, do it. Do it now.

(P.S. I love Jokerzula. I have for a looooong time.)

Question Everything
My little brother had to go to the hospital for an intense teeth scrubbing, sealants, and cavity fillings. The whole family went. So I decided to read the comics that have been in my backpack for about a month. I'm waaaaay behind.

Not really reviews, just thoughts and rants:

I want to be at Comic-Con D:
Content Loves the Silence (Zutara)
So... Turns out I'm not going to see The Dark Knight tomorrow. Tickets ran out. Figures. That's why I never plan on seeing movies opening night. Though I did see Superman Returns the day it opened and it wasn't too bad. That was awesome.

But hey, tomorrow will be awesome anyway. THE SOUTHERN RAIDERS!!! FUCK YEAH!!!

I've been wondering for awhile. At what point will people tell you "don't forgive the bastard"? Whenever I'm reasonably furious with someone who has wronged me, I'm always told (usually but not always by people who have little clue of what I'm going through, BTW) that I must forgive him or I'll be destroying myself. I get that with last guy I was mad at. When I forgave him for making fun of my autistic brother when we were ten, I felt a lot better. We're still no longer friends, I still hate what he did, but I forgave him years later. But the Safeway guy? No one has told me to forgive him, but before I was told that everyone deserves to be forgiven. I've always wondered "even rapists, child molestors, and serial killers?" They would say that it doesn't matter if you think they deserve it or not, forgive them and GTF over it.

Even if they're not sorry.

I'm sorry, but I disagree. In the words of Cosy Sheridan...

I try to love the sinner but it's more than the sin will allow )
I just can't say it more perfectly than she did.

My back pain has been coming back lately. The one related to my assault, psychologically. Aquired under totally different circumstances. In marching band, one of the instructors touched my upper back in order to move me into my spot during a dress. He grabbed my sweater and his finger tapped my back. But for a loooong time, I'd feel a sharp pain in my back when I was triggered. It went away for awhile after my karate teacher taught me that Focusing technique. It seems to be coming back now. Damn.

I REALLY need to stop going to bed after five AM.

My day, 'cause you all MUST know!

Well Behaved Women (Katara)
I went to Eugene today to drop off my cousin at my Grandma's. The ride there was fun. We were all telling weird childhood stories (my mom told my cousin about all the weird stuff her dad would do growing up.)

In Eugene, I took my cousin and sister to Prince Puckler's, an ice cream place a few block's from my Grandma's house. Apparently, when Obama came to Eugene, he stopped there. He even picked out a favorite flavor, which they now point out on the glass, along with some employee favorites. Guess what his favorite is? Mint (chocolate) Chip. My absolute favorite flavor. I got that before I saw the arrow saying "OBAMA'S FAVORITE!" That made my day a little :)

I set all the upcoming episodes of Avatar to record for my cousin down there. My Grandma's got pretty much NOTHING on her DVR, so it should be fine. She would have stopped me if it wasn't, since she was sitting right there.

AND ZOMG my older brother is going to see The Dark Knight on Thursday night at an IMAX theater with his friends, and at first I was upset. "You are NOT going to see The Dark Knight before I do!!" But he immediately said I could come along if I invite a friend, so he doesn't have to babysit me. I'd be more comfortable with one of my friends anyway, not really one for "college humor". That will be SO FRAKKING COOL!!!!!!!!!

My Goddess, I love Pixar so much.

And I never thought I'd say this, but it actually gave me glee to see The Western Air Temple with commercials and that annoying "NICK!" symbol in the corner. I never thought I'd miss those so much.

Almost forgot. On the way home, when we got back into town, I saw a restaurant called Maiko Sushi. Needless to say, I cracked up.

I don't see why my brother doesn't get why I don't like walking alone at night, even in Eugene. When I went to the ATM and then to Starbuck for coffee for the ride home, I asked him to come with me, and he just didn't see why. "Eugene's one of the safest places," he said. "I see lots of girls walking alone at night." But I don't feel safe. And I've recently noticed a whole new level of that feeling of vulnerability when I'm wearing a skirt, which I was today. I know that it doesn't make a difference to possible predators. Anyone who wanted to rape me would do it regardless of what I was wearing. A belt and shorts is no hassle to a sick fuck like that. Anyway, I NEVER feel safe walking around at night. And my brother KNOWS about what happened at Safeway. That should be reason enough for him to see why I wouldn't want to go alone in a city filled with college students, who are basically older teenagers.

Thankfully, he agreed to go with me. Still though, is he that blinded by his own privilege?

Too much awesome....

Well Behaved Women (Katara)
I just looked up the cable schedule to see if all the new Avatars are set to record (they are) and I was overcome with excitement. I read through all the descriptions and... I so can't wait for the Southern Raiders.

But I don't want Avatar to end D: But at least the network didn't cut them short, Mike and Bryan chose this. That's better than when Teen Titans was cancelled 'cause the new execs "didn't like it". That really sucked.

Then, after I checked the Avatar stuff, a trailer for The Dark Knight came on! I saw that one already, but it just increased my squeegasm.

And I saw Mystery Men last night. Why hadn't I ever watched it before?! That movie is great! I loved Ben Stiller's character's power XD He gets really angry. But I fell asleep just before the end, and I missed the beginning too. I'm sure I'll see it again.

My family's going to the PAX Convention this summer. I've never been, but it should be lots of fun! It's also the same weekend as Bummershoot(sp?) so we might stop by there, too, which is cool. We went to that last year. My dad and I went to see a band called The Fucking Eagles, then we all went to Greg Prupes' show because we love Whose Line and Colin Hay was performing there. This year it looks like Beck, Stone Temple Pilots, AND The Offspring will be there. I'd love to see all those shows, but I'm sure they'll be impossible to get into. It'd be awesome if John DiMaggio is going to sing with Beck XD That was one of my favorite episodes of Futurama.

"That song doesn't usually last three hours, but we got into a serious 'thing'... And then I forgot how it ended."

Sure, I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE go to SDCC again, but I'm lucky to have gone once. And to have met all the people I did. AND to have been INVITED ONTO THE DC PANEL AND SIT BEHIND BILL WILLINGHAM AND PAUL DINI!! I'll talk about that later.

I dreamt that Harley Quinn taught me to dance O.o We hung out together more, but that's the part the stood out.

Dinner, time to go eat.

How does she knooooooooooow?

Well Behaved Women (Katara)
I just watched Enchanted again. When my family and I saw it in theaters, we missed the entire Andalasia scene.

*Sigh* It's so lovely. Everything about that movie was so well done.

I wish my cat could be useful if I just sing to him.

The "That's How You Know" scene seems like the PERFECT Disneyland parade.

I love the fact that, in Time Square, there's a Wicked and RENT sign in the same shot (since Idina Menzel is in Enchanted), and a few moments later Prince Edward (James Marden) is right in front of a Superman Returns poster. XD

Amy Adams. No one else could have pulled that off.

*Sigh*

*EDIT* I forgot to mention, I dreamt that I was in a comic book store, and CHRISTIAN BALE AND AARON ECKHART CAME IN!! I was too speechless to say anything, though. But when they left, I talked to the store owner, saying something like "Oh my God, did that just happen?!" but she was acting like it happens all the time. (Also, pretty nice that my subconscious mind decided that the comic store owner should be a woman.)

HOLY FRAKING AWESOMENESS, BATMAN!!!
