I've been doing some thinking about the last few episodes of Avatar. Now that I'm pretty sure all my Avatard flist members have seen the finale, no spoiler cut.
First, let's talk about Kataang in Ember Island Players. I noticed my most recent time watching it that, while Katara and Aang were talking outside, the moon was full. If a full moon lasts three days, then EIP would either have to be RIGHT AFTER Southern Raiders, since the moon was full in that episode when Katara bloodbended. Like, a day after, or maybe less. That, or a month after after TSR, which I HIGHLY doubt. I wonder if Bryke put that in to give us that time frame. So, when Katara said that she was confused, now I'm willing to bet that it had to do with the events in TSR, rather than "there's a war going on" and such.
Think about it: Just 24 hours or less prior to their talk, Katara was a freaking mess. She almost killed a man. She had just forgiven Zuko, who had really hurt her. And all the while, Aang was telling her to do the impossible: Forgive the empty beast who destroyed her family. And when she didn't murder him, Aang assumed she forgave him, which was something Katara still couldn't even fathom. Hell, she couldn't even figure out why she didn't impale her mother's killer. Severe lack of understanding on Aang's part, no? At least from her perspective. That must have added some confusion about her feelings for Aang. Aang wasn't all that supportive, whereas Zuko went along with whatever she decided on (yes, some possible Zutara intended by Bryke?)
Point is, she had been through a lot over just a few weeks: Her father being taken by the Fire Nation, her mortal enemy LIVING with them, facing her mother's killer... That's too much for a 14 year old girl to handle without losing a little of her mind. Which, by the way, she started to lose it. Remember how insane she looked when she was yelling at Zuko in TSR? That was scary. At the rate she was going, if Zuko hadn't acted when he did, she might have mistaken something simple for a reason to kill him. I'm not kidding here. She most certainly would have slaughtered him when he attacked Aang in Sozin's Comet. She was slipping, and that was displayed perfectly in TSR.
No wonder she was confused. It was just too soon. Nothing against Aang, just awful timing on his part. Boy, Aang, you had some horrible judgement in EIP.
I was going to say some stuff about Azula, too, but I can't really think of anything besides, surprisingly, "poor thing". She might be the most tragic character in the series. Seeing her collapse like that made me hate Ozai even more. Seriously, Ursa, WTF did you see in the creep? Was he actually a decent guy in high school or something? It MUST have been an arranged marriage, it must have...
Next, Emilie Autumn. She's so fucking awesome. Let me recommend some of her music to you, along with some Avatar relations. A warning, her music can get a bit... Disturbing. Like, frightening. I can freak out my sister and cousin just by singing "I Know Where You Sleep".
Oh, my mom just sent me this article about Nick's new movie "Gym Teacher". Talking about their shock about Sedaris and Meloni being in it. Apparently, Paul Dinello made the movie. Okay, I'm gonna have to watch it.
